Your privacy, simply

Verbora is designed with privacy at its core. Your data stays on your device. We do not collect personal information or maintain user accounts.

What data Verbora stores

All learning data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework:

Your local data may be included in iCloud or iTunes device backups if you have backups enabled. This is controlled by your device settings, not by Verbora.

Dictionary lookups

When you look up a word using Verbora's built-in dictionary, the search term is sent to the PONS Dictionary API (api.pons.com) to retrieve translations and usage examples. Only the search term is transmitted — no personal information, device identifiers, or usage data is included. Results are cached locally on your device to reduce repeat requests. No other data is sent to external services.

For more information, see PONS's privacy policy.

Text-to-speech

Verbora uses Apple's built-in text-to-speech engine (AVSpeechSynthesizer) to pronounce Italian words. Processing happens entirely on your device. No audio data is sent to external services.

No accounts, no tracking

Verbora does not require account creation. We do not use analytics services, advertising identifiers, or tracking pixels. There is no App Tracking Transparency prompt because no tracking occurs.

Apple Watch

If you use Verbora on Apple Watch, the same privacy principles apply. Data synced between your iPhone and Apple Watch stays within Apple's secure ecosystem and is not sent to our servers.

Notifications

Verbora uses local notifications only. Scheduling is handled entirely on your device by Apple's notification framework. No push notification services are used.

Data retention

Your learning data persists on your device for as long as the app is installed. Dictionary search terms sent to PONS are not stored by us. Deleting Verbora removes all local data permanently.

Data deletion

Deleting the app removes all data. There is nothing to delete on our end.

Children's privacy

Verbora does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since no personal data is collected from any user, there are no age restrictions on using the app. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian should review these terms and our Terms of Service.

Your rights

The data controller for Verbora is Danmomo, Singapore. Contact: verbora@danmomo.com.

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR including access, correction, and deletion of personal data. Since Verbora stores all data locally and we have no access to it, you exercise these rights directly by managing or deleting the app. The only data transmitted externally is dictionary search terms sent to PONS, which are not linked to your identity. The legal basis for transmitting dictionary search terms to PONS is legitimate interest — specifically, providing the dictionary feature you requested.

If you are in California, we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA.

Governing law

This privacy policy is governed by the laws of Singapore.

Changes to this policy

If we update this privacy policy, changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. We will notify you through the app for material changes.
